Wetland Park in Spring: A Picturesque Scene

In recent days, Xishuanghu National Wetland Park in Donghai County has been blessed with clear lake waters, blooming flowers, and verdant willows, attracting a steady stream of visitors coming to admire the flowers. The spring blossoms, pristine waters, and leisurely tourists combine to form a beautiful ecological landscape.

Xishuanghu, established in 1958, derives its name from being located on the west side of the city and comprising two lakes, north and south. Initially, it served as a medium-sized reservoir primarily for flood control, irrigation, and water supply. Over the past 67 years since its construction, Xishuanghu has provided a reliable source of water for agricultural production and urban life in Donghai. In late 2016, it was approved as a national wetland park with a total planned area of 719.2 hectares, divided into five functional zones: ecological conservation area, restoration and reconstruction area, education and exhibition area, reasonable use area, and management and service area. The wetland area covers 445.9 hectares, accounting for 62% of the total park area. Following years of continuous restoration and remediation, significant changes have taken place in the terrestrial ecosystem of Xishuanghu Wetland, with clearer water quality and richer vegetation. It has now become a popular destination for leisure, tourism, fitness, and entertainment.
