Recently, the China Rural Leisure Association announced the list of the 2023 Five-Star Enterprises (Parks) for National Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism. Jiangsu Province has seven enterprises (parks) in total, and Huangwo Village in Gaogong Island Street, Lianyun District of our city, has successfully been selected. This is the sixth rural leisure spot in our city to receive this honor after Qingsongling, Chaohewan, Yiyuan, Meiyuan, and Liuyunling Village.
Huangwo Scenic Area within Huangwo Village is the only scenic area in our province that integrates mountain and sea scenery, and is also an important part of the national scenic area, Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area. It is famous for its natural landscapes featuring rarity, uniqueness, antiquity, oddity and beauty.
In recent years, Huangwo Village has adhered to the principle of “party branch leadership, secretary leadership and party member demonstration”, vigorously promoting the work of beautiful and leisurely rural areas. The village collective has invested more than 8 million yuan to acquire 15 idle old houses from villagers and transform them into fishing village-themed homestays. A new “Phoenix Mountain Residence” homestay cluster covering an area of 69 mu has also been built. At the same time, the village has demonstrated and driven villagers to use their own idle houses to carry out fishing-themed homestay project construction. A total of 28 households have joined the “Fisherman’s Delight Homestay” Association, and more than 200 beds have been put into operation.
The leisure tourism economy of Huangwo Village mainly focuses on Fisherman’s Delight and local cuisine. By adopting the “Scenic Area + Cooperative + Farmers” cooperation model, the village has developed 37 Fisherman’s Delight operations, 5 leisure farms, and 28 rural-themed homestays. It has also nurtured a range of locally distinct agricultural products, including laver, oysters, mussels, kudzu powder and cherries. Over the past few years, Huangwo Village has been successfully transformed into a well-known beautiful and leisurely rural area, attracting numerous tourists. Consequently, the village collective income and villagers’ income have continued to increase.
