To address the issue of “difficulty in charging” for the public, Haizhou District has continuously increased its investment in people’s livelihood and actively established a “1-km” public charging service circle for new energy vehicles. According to the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Haizhou District, 119 charging stations are already in operation in Haizhou District, of which 43 are operated by Lianyungang Haizhou Transportation Construction Investment Co., Ltd. Five charging stations, including those on Fenghuang Avenue, Mingxin Road, and Zhenxing Flower City, are currently under construction and are scheduled to be put into use before the end of June. The registered users of the “Cloud Charging of Lianyungang” APP, the operational platform for charging services, exceed 62,000.
Recently, the journalist visited the Mingxin Road Charging Service Station and found that the newly built parking lot was already filled with many new energy vehicles. The canopy roof of the service station was covered with photovoltaic panels, absorbing solar energy. It is understood that the Mingxin Road Charging Service Station will be put into use soon. Unlike ordinary charging stations, the Mingxin Road Charging Service Station utilizes photovoltaic power generation. The generated electricity is transmitted and stored in storage batteries, which then supply power for new energy vehicles, realizing self-sufficiency, energy conservation and carbon reduction.
“The Mingxin Road Charging Service Station has 259 regular parking spaces and 16 charging spaces. The photovoltaic canopy covers an area of 3,386 square meters, with an estimated annual power generation of 850,000 kilowatt-hours and a maximum daily power generation of up to 2,900 kilowatt-hours, basically meeting the charging needs of surrounding residents.” said Mr. Liu, the deputy general manager of Lianyungang Haizhou Transportation Construction Investment Co., Ltd.
Apart from the construction of charging stations, Haizhou District has also been improving the supporting facilities and establishing maintenance stations to provide drivers with a better resting environment. Recently, the journalist visited the “Hongyun Yuexing” rest stop, where the charging piles are neatly arranged outside and some new energy vehicles are being charged. It’s said that this place was originally an empty lot but was later transformed into a charging station with a rest stop. Inside the rest stop, there is good lighting, as well as tables, chairs, sofas, air conditioners, water dispensers, and other facilities, providing drivers with a comfortable place to relax. “I used to rest in my car while charging before, but it was too stuffy in summer. Here, I can rest outside the car, have some water and chat, so I prefer to come here to charge.” said Mr. Shao, a ride-hailing driver resting at the rest stop.
In recent years, new energy vehicles have become one of the choices for citizens to travel, but issues such as “difficulty in queuing for charging” and “slow charging” still plague new energy vehicle owners. In the future, Haizhou District will further improve the layout of existing charging stations, enhance service quality, and continuously meet the growing charging needs of the public, promoting low-carbon and green travel.
