Recently, a cross-border train loaded with second-hand cars, auto parts, and electronic products departed slowly from the China-Kazakhstan Logistics Base in Lianyungang, heading for Almaty, Kazakhstan and other stations. This is the 410th train operated by the Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express since the beginning of this year, marking that the Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express has completed the annual task target of 820 trains ahead of schedule, achieving the “double over half” milestone.
In the face of external competition for cargo sources this year, Lianyungang Port has ly adjusted its operating measures dynamically to cope with the fluctuations in market cargo sources and channel transportation capacity, and actively promoted the high-quality operation of trains. Relying on the advantages of the New Eurasian Land-Sea Intermodal Transport Corridor and the “One Port, Two Bases, Three Hubs”, it has built land-sea intermodal transport channels connecting Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and China’s coastal areas with Central and West Asia, promoted two-way circular transportation, and gathered main cargo sources for round-trip trains.
The transportation modes such as “Lianyungang-Shanghai Express+ China-Europe Railway Express” and “Ro-Ro Transportation+China-Europe Railway Express” have enhanced the service functions of “Lianyungang Railway+”. The port organizes direct and integrated trains between Tashkent, creating high-quality train routes, enhancing overall transportation service capabilities, and expanding products such as “export+bonded” mixed shipment and rail-air intermodal transportation to meet the needs of segmented markets. It has cultivated JSQ cage car transportation for cross-border cars and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan sea-rail-road multimodal transport channel, forming a useful supplement to the existing channel capacity. At the same time, it has actively promoted the opening of the Trans-Caspian corridor and connecting trains, undertaken cargo diverted from the Trans-Siberian Railway, promoted the construction of digital trains, and improved the fine management level of trains. A series of measures have been taken to promote the efficient operation of six train channels in Lianyungang. From January to May, the Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express has operated 407 trains, representing a year-on-year increase of 28.5%.
It is reported that since the first international freight train was launched in Lianyungang in 1992, after more than 30 years of hard work, a transportation pattern has been formed that covers 5 exit ports, opens 6 train routes, includes import and export and transit businesses, and has trains arriving at stations in Central and West Asia and Europe. Next, Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express will take the lead in building benchmarks and demonstrations, deeply promote the construction of the new Eurasian land-sea intermodal transport corridor, accelerate the construction of the Lianyungang-Xuzhou China-Europe Railway Express assembly center, deepen cooperation with Kazakhstan to build a train sorting and distribution center, give full play to the seamless connection and land-sea conversion advantages of “port, shipping, road, and park”, build high-quality train routes of “fast ships at sea+express lines on land”, improve the construction level of digital trains, and promote the development of trains towards “higher quality, greater benefits and more security” through multiple measures.
