Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express has exceeded 6,000 trips

Yesterday, a China-Europe Railway Express train loaded with used cars, household appliances and other goods departed from the Lianyungang Sino-Kazakhstan Logistics Cooperation Base. It will pass through the Khorgos Port and eventually arrive in Almaty, Kazakhstan and other places. As a flagship project and iconic brand for jointly building the “Belt and Road”, the “steel camel caravan” is running at an accelerated speed. Since 2015, the cumulative number of China-Europe Railway Express from Lianyungang has exceeded 6000, building a bridge of happiness for the “two-way journey” between Asia and Europe.

With the vigorous development of global trade, railway freight plays an increasingly important role in the international logistics system. Thanks to its unique geographical and resource advantages, Lianyungang has strengthened its economic and trade exchanges with Central Asia, Europe and other regions through the operation of the China-Europe Railway Express. With a series of advanced transportation modes such as the combined sea-rail-air transportation of containers, as well as the exploration and application of innovative models such as the “bonded+export” mixed business, “direct ship-to-truck” with zero-waiting, the multimodal transportation of Kazakhstani wheat throughout the journey, and the “consolidation to bulk” transshipment of potassium fertilizer from Central Asia, the operational efficiency of China-Europe Railway Express has been significantly improved, and the dwell time of goods in the port has been obviously shortened. With the establishment of the “double hub” status of the New Eurasian Land Bridge, the China-Europe Railway Express in Lianyungang has gradually developed into an indispensable backbone of international logistics transportation on the New Silk Road.

“Last year, the first China-Europe Railway Express Cooperation Forum was successfully held in our city, marking that the development of the Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express has entered a new stage, and its strategic position and international influence have been significantly enhanced.” said Ge, the general manager of Lianyungang Sino-Kazakhstan Logistics Company. Ge also introduced that the hardware facilities of the Railway Express are also being accelerated. The construction of nine wide-gauge railway lines of Khorgos-East Gate Dry Port has been started, and the “double hub” of the New Eurasian Land-Sea Intermodal Transport Corridor is becoming more rapid and smooth.

The distinctive advantages of the Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express continue to expand. This year, facing the complex changes in the market conditions and international situation, Lianyungang Port has always prioritized stability, strengthened communication and coordination with business units such as railways, customs, wharves and stations. Based on stabilizing the operation of existing sources of cargo, it has also developed new return train cargo types such as JSQ cage cars. The proportion of high value-added and high-tech commodities such as cars, computers and robots has increased. The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal transport corridor has operated stably. The information construction has enabled the interconnection and high coordination of railway and customs information, significantly improving the degree of port facilitation, intelligence, and customs clearance efficiency. In the first four months of this year, the Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express operated 319 trains, representing a year-on-year increase of 34.3%.

Through the Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express, more “domestic goods and trendsetting brands” are transported to the international market, and more “Silk Road foreign goods” enter the domestic market, greatly enriching people’s lives. “We will continue to work with port units, fully leverage the advantages of the port, constantly strengthen the transportation organization of the China-Europe Railway Express, optimize the operation plan, and expand the cargo market of the train.” said Ge Hengxue. The stable growth in the number of Lianyungang China-Europe Railway Express trains has provided strong support for ensuring the stability of the industrial chain and supply chain, serving the new development pattern, and building the “Belt and Road” of high quality together.
